Privacy Policy

• Account details. If you create a student account we store your name, email address, and a password that is stored only as a salted hash - never as readable text. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID; we never receive your Google password.
• Email verification codes. A short-lived one-time code, stored hashed, used only to confirm you own the address you signed up with.
• Doubt-solver conversations. Questions you ask and the answers returned, kept so follow-up questions have context. These are tied to your account only if you are signed in when you ask.
• Activity data. Which pages you view and which study materials you download, so we know what to write next and so downloads can be attributed to an account where one exists.
• Newsletter address. If you subscribe, your email address, used for that mailing list and nothing else.
• Technical data. IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and timestamps - collected automatically by our servers and by analytics, and used for security, abuse prevention and diagnostics.

We do not collect government identifiers, payment card details, biometric data, or precise location. We do not ask for your phone number in order to read study material.

Each category above is used only for the purpose it was collected for:

• To provide the service - serving solutions, papers and worksheets, answering doubt-solver questions, and keeping you signed in.
• To secure accounts - verifying your email, rate-limiting abuse, and investigating misuse.
• To send the newsletter, if and only if you asked for it.
• To understand which material is useful, so we prioritise what to publish next.

We rely on your consent for analytics and the newsletter, and on the necessity of performing the service you asked for in the case of your account and the study material you request. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 7), and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it.

Lernizy is written for Class 1-12 students, so we know many of our readers are under 18. The DPDP Act treats anyone under 18 in India as a child and requires verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before their personal data is processed.

• No account is needed to study. Solutions, sample papers, previous-year papers, worksheets and the doubt-solver are all readable without registering, so a child can use Lernizy without giving us any personal data at all.
• If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before creating an account, and give us their email address if we ask for it. By creating an account you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to it.
• We never run behavioural or targeted advertising, and we do not track children across other websites or build advertising profiles. There is no advertising network on Lernizy.
• A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their child's data at any time using the contact details in section 10, and we will act on it without asking the child to intervene.

The doubt-solver and our study-material generation run on third-party AI providers. The text of your question is sent to that provider so it can produce an answer. We do not train AI models on your questions, we do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI answers can be wrong. Treat them as a study aid alongside your textbook and teacher, not as a final authority - see our Terms of Service.

If you choose to sign in with Google, we request only your basic profile and email address (openid, email and profile). We use them for exactly one thing: to create or recognise your Lernizy account.

Lernizy's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer that data to others except as needed to run the service, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow humans to read it except with your explicit permission, for security purposes, or where the law requires it. You can disconnect Lernizy at any time from your Google account permissions page.

We do not sell personal data, and we never have. We share it only with the providers needed to run Lernizy, and only to the extent each one needs:

• Cloud hosting and storage - to run the site and store uploaded material.
• AI providers - to generate doubt-solver answers and study material.
• Email delivery - to send verification codes, password resets and the newsletter.
• Analytics - to measure aggregate usage, only after you accept analytics cookies.

Each is bound to use the data only for the service it provides to us. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Transfers outside India. Some of these providers process data on servers outside India. Where that happens we rely on the provider's contractual data-protection commitments, and we transfer only what the service needs.

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:

• Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with.
• Correct anything inaccurate, complete anything incomplete, or update anything out of date.
• Erase your data and close your account, unless we are required by law to keep something.
• Withdraw consent you previously gave - for analytics, through the cookie banner; for the newsletter, through the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated.
• Complain to our Grievance Officer, and if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.

We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences - these are needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off.

Analytics cookies only load after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. Until then, analytics and advertising storage are set to denied and nothing is measured. You can change your mind at any time from the same banner. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share data for cross-site advertising.

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS. Access to internal systems is restricted and protected by multiple layers of authentication, and we rate-limit endpoints to blunt automated attacks. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures proportionate to the data we hold.

We keep account data for as long as your account exists, and delete it within 90 days of you closing it. Verification codes and password-reset tokens expire in minutes. Aggregate analytics that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

We will update this page as Lernizy changes, and revise the date at the top when we do. If a change materially affects your rights, we will say so prominently on this page. This policy is governed by the laws of India, with courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka having jurisdiction.
